Have you ever wanted to go to a great location and be involved in a workshop that everything is covered from camera and exposure basics to macro, wildlife, landscape and composition? Your wait is over! Join Cecil Holmes and David Akoubian for Nature in Focus Photography Workshops Intensive Apalachicola Workshop. The dates are mid-afternoon on November 7 to mid-morning November 10. The location is none other than the heart of the Forgotten Coast, Apalachicola, Florida. Cecil and David have been leading workshops in this beautiful setting for about 10 years and have extensive knowledge of the location and have developed a relationship with the locals as well.

We will start mid-afternoon Thursday with reviewing camera and exposure basics. We will end the evening with a sunset shoot and a social at the base location of the workshop. Over the next few days we will cover the basics to improve your photography knowledge and skills when shooting macro, wildlife and landscapes. We will focus our in-field work on composition of the scenes we will photograph. Each day we will have critique sessions and review images to help the photographer understand and feel more comfortable each time they go out to shoot. We will teach advanced techniques as well on filters, including Circular Polarizers, Neutral Density, and Graduated Neutral Density. We will even have a session on Night Sky photography, not just in the field, but how to process the image as well. Speaking of processing, we will go through our workflow and help you to understand Lightroom better. Lightroom is not required, but it will be our area of focus for processing.

The workshop will be intensive with little rest except for a short break and for meals, and of course a little sleep at night. The workshop will conclude on mid-morning Sunday. The workshop fee does not include lodging, meals or transportation, but we encourage carpooling to minimize the number of vehicles we travel in and to encourage developing friendships with like-minded photographers. The workshop is limited to only 11 photographers, and due to the intensive nature of the workshop, only participants will be allowed on the field sessions. Spouses are more than welcome to join us at meals. The workshop fee is $479.

Lodging in the area ranges from nice B&Bs, to Historic Inns, and house rentals in Apalachicola and on nearby St. George Island. We have used and recommend the Historic Gibson Inn in Apalachicola. There is a Best Western in town as well as are many other hotels. We will provide a detailed email for “what to bring” about 30 days in advance as well as directions to the base location.

Join us for an unforgettable workshop on the Forgotten Coast!
