Join us for 5 days of photographing on historic Ossabaw Island from February 24-28, 2025

At approximately 26,000 acres, Ossabaw Island is Georgia’s third-largest barrier island, located 30 minutes south of Savannah on the Atlantic coast. Nearly 9,000 acres are high ground; the remainder are tidal wetlands. The island is roughly ten miles long and 7 miles wide at its widest point.  Ossabaw is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the east; the Bear River/ Florida Passage of the Intracoastal Waterway to the west; the Ogeechee River/Ossabaw Sound to the north; and, St. Catherine’s Sound to the south. Ossabaw Island is a Heritage Preserve owned by the State of Georgia. The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) manages the island and the Ossabaw Island Foundation maintains several island buildings and coordinates on-island programming

Lodging, catered meals, water taxi to/from the island, and transportation on the island are included in the workshop price! (Water Taxi departure location will be sent out at a later time, but will be near Savannah)

MEALS: Meals will be served family style. The caterer will do their best to address food allergies. If you have preferred foods or sensitivity to certain foods there are kitchens in your lodging quarters where you can cook.

Lodging is based on Double Occupancy. Lodging is “bunk-style” lodging and YOU WILL BE SHARING A ROOM with someone. Due to the lodging situation, there are no non-photographing spouses allowed. They would need to pay the workshop fee in full. There will be a shared bathroom in each bedroom.

The workshop will be limited to 10 participants.  Your instructors for this workshop will be David Akoubian, Cecil Holmes & Mark Whitney

We will have access to a room for group meetings for processing or image reviews.

Shooting locations will include Boneyard Beach, Middle Place, Torrey-West House, Tabbys, marshes at sunrise and sunset, spring foliage, Main Road Oaks, a well as lots of wildlife opportunities.

We’ve added an extra day to this workshop which will include a second trip to the popular Boneyard Beach location.

The workshop fee is $2395.00 and does include lodging, meals, water taxi to/from the island, and transportation on the island during the workshop. As with all of our workshops, we highly recommend travel insurance.

Upon registering, you will receive a confirmation email that can serve as your receipt.  As we get closer to the workshop date we will send out other emails that will include topics such as "what to bring" or "how to prepare".
